Celebrate Jewish Holidays

The materials in this book are designed to help the churches study and observe these holidays who have little research into the subject. A lesson concerning the holiday is included along with the ideas for celebrating.

There are several festive occasions observed by the Old Testament Jews:

• The Feast of Purim – late February to early March
• The Feast of Passover – mid March to mid April
• The Feast of Unleavened Bread – the 7 days following the Feast of Passover The Feast of Pentecost – late May or June
• The Feast of Trumpets – mid September to mid October
• The Day of Atonement – mid September to mid October
• The Feast of Tabernacle – late September to late October

The Jewish holidays of the Old Testament are not to be formally and legally observed today. We are no longer under the Law. The purpose of the holidays, in most part, portrayed something of the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus fulfilled the Law and hence these holidays are not officially in effect today. The ceremonial law was a prophetic look at the coming Messiah. There are some great lessons about Jesus Christ that can be learned from a study of the Jewish holidays. We learn about Jesus from both sides of the cross.
